How It Started
Both of us went to Antioch Community Church in Waco for two years before Autumn moved to Sheffield, England. So, you would think that we would have met there, right? Nope. A year after Autumn moved there, Yale went to England for the summer to help with the youth. So, it was love at first site right? Only for Yale... But, Autumn came around a month or so later :)
The Proposal
Autumn's Version:
Monday night Yale and I had a phone date planned...I was going out to the park near my house to sit on a big rock and watch the sun set over the peaks and he was going to sit on the suspension bridge in Waco and watch the lovely Brazos river try to flow. I got out to the park and was talking with him on the phone and he started getting all sentimental when all of a sudden he jumped up on the rock behind me, scaring me to death, and landed on one knee asked me to marry him. :) I think I said yes before he even finished the question....then some of our friends had prepared a picnic basket for us and we had a REAL date at the park!
Yale's Version:
Six months ago, I realized that Autumn was the perfect girl and i had to ask her to marry me, so i started to plan... She knew I was coming for the summer, so i decided to go early and surprise her. Three months before i came, I asked Autumn if we could have weekly phone dates at bole hill, a hill overlooking the city with a gorgeous view, so she wouldn't suspect anything when I asked her to go to "our spot" . I sent her a flight itinerary saying i was coming on July 9th, and I got on a plane, on June 22nd, ready to ask the girl of my dreams if she would be mine. 20 hours of traveling, 45 minutes detained at customs, and the longest day of my life later, I was waiting at bole hill for Autumn to show up. My plan was to talk with her on the phone, and slowly walk up behind her, so she heard me on the phone and in real life at the same time... If you know Autumn and I, you know there's no way it went the way I had planned. :) I started to walk up behind her, and just got overwhelmed with how amazing she is, and i started to run. I ran up to her and leaped onto the boulder she was sitting on, landing on one knee. I asked her to marry me, and before i could finish, she said yes, and the rest of our life together had started.
